Happy Friday 13th - Remembering Karma Kit (January 1995 - November 2006)

I don't know the exact date of Karma's birthday, but counting back the weeks from when I got her, she would have been born on or around the 13th of January 1995, which was on a Friday. Given Karma's personality, I figured she was a Friday 13th sort of girl. lol. Happy Friday 13th! I miss you, Karma Kit!

What can I say?
Sometimes she was good Karma;
sometimes she was bad Karma.
And she always had a nose for wine.

To Blog or Not to Blog

Does the world really need another blog? What is there to blog about that hasn't already been blogged out?

When in doubt, post a cute cat picture.

Dreams Come True

As winter approaches, I'm still dreaming of last summer and the Mustangs in Sand Wash Basin Colorado.

"Get off my lawn, you damn kids!" he shouted angrily.

What is wrong with this dialog?

"Come here!" he bellowed loudly.
"No!" she replied stubbornly.
"Then get out of my house!" he yelled back at her.
"This is my house," she reminded him.
"Not anymore," he announced. He paused, and then repeated, "Not anymore."

Torturing the Muse

This is from page 499 of a published novel:

"I think that sounds wonderful," [MAIN CHARACTER] admitted gratefully. "We've been living on trail meals."

"Bring your plates up, all of you," [MINOR CHARACTER] called, beckoning to the others.

[MINOR CHARACTER] seated himself across from [MAIN CHARACTER] and [MAIN CHARACTER'S FRIEND]. [PRINCESS CHARACTER] and [HEALER CHARACTER] found seats with them, while [FIGHTER CHARACTER] took his food to the other side of the table and [ANOTHER CHARACTER] followed. [CLICHE ANIMAL COMPANION] found a spot on the edge of the table, settled his leathery wings contentedly, and pulled at a piece of cheese.

Blah blah blah blah blah...

This is pretty much how the entire novel reads, and it goes for over 600 pages. This is book one of a trilogy. I will force myself to continue reading until it drives me to return to my own writing.

Is this thing on?

Okay, I blogged. Can I go outside and play now?
